Botox is terrific for relaxing the central face, eliminating frown lines on the forehead, between the brows and softening crow’s feet. Originally developed to combat muscle spasms and cramping, Botox is actually a highly purified form of botulism toxin. It is injected into specific facial muscles, relaxing them so they can’t contract or pinch, giving the face a well-rested, youthful look of someone who has just returned from a week’s vacation. Perhaps more importantly, it curbs the creation of new lines and wrinkles that result when these muscles are overused!

Before now, Botox was slightly uncomfortable for the first few seconds on injection. Not Anymore. We’ve changed the injection solution for Botox from the distilled water to normal saline and presto...no discomfort. “Ouchless” Botox is here and it’s terrific. Results last between 2 to 3 months. Touch-ups are required to maintain results.

Dr. Duffy likes to be conservative with Botox initially, using just enough to detense without loosing expressiveness and natural muscularity of the face. Botox takes patience, experience and possibly, a few visits for fine tuning. We use Botox in conjunction with fillers for optimal results.
